Allergan Explores Sale To Sanofi, J&J: Reports
(RTTNews) - Allergan Inc. (AGN) has contacted other drug makers, including Sanofi (SNY) and Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) to check if they are interested in a takeover, according to reports.
Irvine, California-based Allergan, which is famous for its wrinkle treatment drug Botox, is currently exploring alternate options after Canadian drug maker Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc. (VRX, VRX.TO) offered to buy it for $45.7 billion.
According to Bloomberg's report, citing people with knowledge on the matter, Allergan hasn't decided how to respond to Valeant's offer, and is making the inquiries to see if a sale to a larger rival is possible.
