AMC Networks Q3 Profit Up, Results Miss View - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - AMC Networks Inc.'s (AMCX) third-quarter 2013 net income attributable to stockholders climbed to $58.1 million, or $0.80 a share, from $36.65 million, or $0.51 a share last year. On average, 15 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings per share of $0.86 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.

Third quarter net revenues increased 19.1% to $395.33 million, from $332.06 million in the prior-year period, helped by a 20.2% growth at National Networks and a 6.9% increase at International and Other. Analysts estimated revenues of $396.25 million for the quarter.

Commenting on the performance, the company's President and Chief Executive said, "Our solid financial results in the third quarter were driven by a return on our investment in original programming." He continued, "Our shows are performing well on IFC, Sundance Channel and WE tv. At AMC, our acclaimed series Breaking Bad came to a close with record viewership and the Emmy Award for Oustanding Drama Series, and The Walking Dead kicked off its fourth season with record ratings that extended its reign as the #1 show on television among adults 18-49."
