Ameren Q2 Profit From Cont. Ops. Decreases - Quick Facts
(RTTNews) - Ameren Corp. (AEE) reported that its second-quarter net income from continuing operations decreased to $105 million, or $0.44 per share, from $161 million, or $0.66 per share, prior year. Earnings per share was $0.39, compared to $0.87, prior year.
The company said the reduction in earnings from continuing operations was the result of a planned nuclear refueling outage, impacts of a regulatory decision in 2012 and a court decision in 2013, as well as milder weather.
On average, nine analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $0.49 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Total operating revenues were $1.403 billion, compared to $1.402 billion last year. Analysts expected revenue of $1.50 billion for the quarter. Ameren now expects 2013 earnings from continuing operations to be in a range of $2.00 to $2.15 per share, compared to the prior range of $2.00 to $2.20 per share. Analysts expect the company to report 2013 profit per share of $2.10.
