American Airlines Opens Temporary Admirals Club at Miami International Airport

MIAMI, Nov. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- American Airlines said today it has opened a temporary Admirals Club(R) lounge in Concourse E to replace the one in Concourse A which recently closed to accommodate construction for the North Terminal Project. The temporary club in Concourse E opened last week and will continue to operate alongside American's larger, 30,000 square-foot Admiral's Club in Concourse D.

"We realize that the closing of the Admirals Club in Concourse A would have created an overflow of passengers in the Terminal D club, representing a temporary inconvenience for passengers," said Patsy Yuen-Lyn, Director -- Premium Services. "By offering an alternative club at Concourse E, we hope to ease the transition for passengers and alleviate any congestion that would have been created at the club in Concourse D."

The Admirals Club in Concourse E will provide ample space and amenities for passengers allowing them to relax or work in between flights. This 16,000 square foot facility will comfortably accommodate 275 people. It offers two conference rooms, six showers, two TV lounges, a children's room, four Cyber Cafe stations, and six work carrels -- three with Lenovo personal computers.

"In addition to being one of our largest hubs, Miami is our premier connecting hub for Latin America and the Caribbean," said Peter Dolara, American Airlines Senior Vice President -- Miami, Caribbean and Latin America. "It is extremely important that we continue to operate effectively and smoothly for our customers."

When the North Terminal program is complete, American will operate from a new, state-of-the-art terminal with 48 new international gates, two American Eagle regional jet gates, an automated people mover system, 49 ticket counter positions, 90 self-service check-in machines, 30 curbside baggage check-in positions, and a new international Customs facility.

American Airlines operates 44 Admirals Club lounges worldwide. One-year Admirals Club memberships for new members range from just $300 to $450. Memberships can also be purchased with AAdvantage travel reward miles. One-day passes to the lounges are available for only $50. To learn more, visit http://www.aa.com/admiralsclub.

The Miami hub operates 261 daily flights to 102 destinations around the world, with more passengers choosing American Airlines as their carrier of choice for domestic and international travel. American recently added curbside check-in for its international passengers at Miami, becoming the only carrier to offer this service. Catering to the independent and well-seasoned traveler, American has also added 23 new self service check-in stations and a new security checkpoint at Concourse E to speed the flow of traffic within the airport.

American Airlines customers enjoy many additional amenities, including the ability to check two pieces of luggage of 50 pounds or less each at no additional cost, complimentary non-alcoholic beverages, and food on many flights. Customers on American and American Eagle also have the opportunity to earn and redeem AAdvantage(R) miles.
