American Electric Power Q2 Profit Rises; Lifts 2015 Operating EPS Guidance

(RTTNews) - American Electric Power (AEP) reported second-quarter earnings of $430 million or $0.88 per share, compared to $390 million or $0.80 per share in second-quarter 2014. Operating earnings were $429 million or $0.88 per share, for the quarter.

The company said the difference in second-quarter 2015 GAAP and operating earnings was due to commodity hedging within the Generation & Marketing segment.

On average, 15 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $0.81 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Revenue was $3.9 billion compared to $4.0 billion, last year. Analysts expected revenue of $4.08 billion for the quarter.

American Electric Power increased and narrowed its 2015 operating earnings guidance range to $3.50 to $3.65 per share from the previous 2015 operating earnings guidance of $3.40 to $3.60 per share. Analysts expect the company to report earnings per share of $3.54.
