American Financial Group Q3 Profit Rises

(RTTNews) - American Financial Group Inc. (AFG) Tuesday reported third-quarter net earnings attributable to shareholders of $116 million or $1.28 per share, up from $83 million or $0.92 per share last year.

Core net operating earnings were $127 million or $1.40 per share, up from $97 million or $1.06 per share last year.

Total revenues for the quarter were $1.58 billion, up from $1.44 billion last year. P&C insurance net earned premiums rose to $1.13 billion from $949 million last year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.96 per share on revenues of $845.5 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
