American Ladder Institute Drives Participation in Free Ladder Safety Ambassador Program

CHICAGO, Feb. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Ladder Institute (ALI) recognizes individuals and organizations that go the extra mile to uphold ladder safety with its Ladder Safety Ambassador program. To become a Ladder Safety Ambassador, participants successfully complete ALI's free online certification program—Ladder Safety Training.

An ideal time to achieve Ladder Safety Ambassador status is during the second week of ALI's National Ladder Safety Month, taking place February 24-March 30, 2019. The third annual event celebrates and educates on ladder safety through ALI's Ladder Safety Training and free resources that inspire better work and home practices.

The Ladder Safety Ambassador program details safe ladder usage for a variety of industries and applications, including:

  • Construction/painting
  • Building and custodial services
  • Warehousing
  • Power
  • Manufacturing
  • Chemical and petrochemical
  • Oil and gas
  • Vocational training and schools
  • At home

In addition to teaching participants how to safely use ladders—stepladders, single and extension ladders, articulated ladders, mobile ladders, etc.—the training also explains how to properly select and care for a ladder.

Training consists of watching four modules that demonstrate safe ladder practices on a variety of ladder types. Participants take a short quiz following each video. Successful completion of all four module exams (scoring 90% or greater) qualifies an individual to earn a ladder safety certificate. Companies, organizations and/or schools become ALI Ladder Safety Ambassadors when 10 or more exams are successfully completed.

Certified organizations receive an exclusive ALI Safety Ambassador logo and access to a robust toolkit, to help spread the word about their achievement. Individuals can also proudly announce that they've earned the certification with a special "I'm Certified" graphic.

"Every year, more than 300 people die from ladder-related injuries," says Pam O'Brien, ALI's executive director. "These injuries are both physically and financially debilitating. ALI is committed to helping people stay safe on ladders, both at home and at work."
