Aqua America, Inc. Announces Appointment of Thomas M. Bruns as New President of Aqua Indiana
Aqua America, Inc. announced on Friday the promotion of Thomas Bruns to president of Aqua Indiana, Inc., an operating subsidiary that provides water and wastewater services to 38,500 customers (more than 110,000 residents) throughout Indiana.

Since October 2006, Bruns has been vice president and regional manager for Aqua Illinois’ Vermilion Division and Aqua Indiana’s Indianapolis Division, overseeing utility management, regulatory affairs, and marketing and acquisition efforts in the two-state region. Bruns first joined Aqua in June 2004 as vice president and regional manager for Aqua Indiana’s operations in central and southern Indiana.
Prior to Aqua, Bruns served as Town Manager for the Town of Cumberland, Indiana where he provided executive-level guidance to the town’s operating departments and wastewater utility, and worked closely with other central Indiana communities. Previously, Bruns held senior positions with Indianapolis Water Company and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, and served as an associate faculty member for department of geology at Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis.

Bruns is a past president of the Illinois-Indiana section of the American Institute of Professional Geologists and a past vice president of the Indiana Municipal Managers Association. He is a member of the American Water Works Association and received the 2002 IWRA Charles H. Bechert Award for career contributions to water resources management in Indiana. Bruns is a graduate of Ball State University, receiving his B.S. in earth sciences. He also holds a M.A. in earth sciences from Indiana University.
