Atlantic Tele-Network, Inc. Appoints Frank O’Mara CEO of Alltel Divestitures Unit

Atlantic Tele-Network, Inc. (NASDAQ:ATNI) announced today that Frank O’Mara, a former Executive Vice President of Alltel Communications, Inc. ("Alltel”), has joined the Company as Chief Executive Officer of its newly-formed subsidiary, Atlantic Wireless Communications Corporation. O’Mara’s duties as CEO will include leading the transition and operation of certain former Alltel wireless properties, licenses and network assets that ATN contracted to acquire from Verizon Wireless on June 9, 2009. As CEO, O’Mara will lead the company in providing wireless service to approximately 800,000 subscribers in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Illinois, Ohio and Idaho.

O’Mara has been active in the wireless industry for over thirteen years, all of which were spent with Alltel. In that time, O’Mara’s responsibilities included stints as the head of Customer Service and as Vice President of Product Management, culminating in his position as Alltel’s Executive Vice President – Sales and Marketing, where his job responsibilities included developing and implementing sales strategy for retail, business, agent and reseller channels serving over 14 million Alltel customers nationwide. In his time at Alltel, O’Mara was instrumental in Alltel’s growth and strong competitive presence, most notably behind the development of a new logo and the "Chad” advertising campaign, and helping to create and implement the Company’s highly successful "My Circle” offering. A long-time resident of Little Rock, O’Mara is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, earning degrees in engineering, business and law. Most recently, O’Mara served as a partner of The Circumference Group, an investment and consulting group formed by former Alltel COO Jeffrey Fox, which has been providing strategic advice and support to ATN in connection with this acquisition.

"Frank has a demonstrated ability to compete effectively with national carriers and promote a brand that has gained recognition from its customers for its superior value, service and quality,” said Michael Prior, ATN’s President and Chief Executive, in announcing O’Mara’s appointment. "He was behind some of Alltel’s most successful service offerings and campaigns. His in-depth experience with the employees and customers that will be integrated into our Company will be a huge asset in our collective transition and continued growth. He is a smart, intense competitor and we are very pleased that Frank will be leading the team.”

Frank O’Mara noted, "This is an excellent opportunity to join a company with a track record of consistent, profitable growth, and to expand beyond the success we had in these markets as Alltel. The rural markets we are acquiring contain many talented and dedicated employees, and I look forward to working with them to offer new and improved services to our subscriber base. I am very excited about this challenge and anticipate building a team that will ensure that we thrive in those markets.”

ATN currently expects that the proposed acquisition of the Alltel properties will close prior to the end of this year. The transaction is subject to approvals from the Department of Justice and the Federal Communications Commission, as well as other customary closing conditions.
