August 27 jazz event will honor Kenosha's Larry Zarletti
KENOSHA, Wis., Aug. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Tuesday night's performance at the Kenosha Twilight Jazz Series was supposed to feature former Kenosha County Sheriff and beloved local musician Larry Zarletti. Instead, the event will be held as a tribute to the man that so many Kenosha area residents loved and respected.

Zarletti passed away unexpectedly on July 8. But instead of cancelling the show, the organizers and other musicians and friends banded together to make the Aug. 27 event at the Anderson Arts Center a truly memorable event.
Zarletti's presence will be felt throughout the event, as his music will be played by some musicians that were close to him. Jack Plovanich will direct the Parkside Reunion Band with vocalists Sue Crawford, Joya Santarelli and Wayne Messmer being featured. The event will now be known as "A Tribute to Larry Zarletti" and will be the closing performance of the season for the Twilight Jazz Series. It would have been Zarletti's eighth appearance at the popular summer music series.
The free jazz events started on June 25 this year, with various performances being held throughout the year. Local businesses help to put the performances on, with Palmen Automotive Group in Kenosha being the title sponsor of Tuesday's event.
Admission is free to anyone wishing to attend the event. The grounds will open at 6 p.m. with the actual performance being held at 7 p.m. Interested attendees are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on.
