austriamicrosystems’ AS3992 UHF RFID Reader IC Featured in Thinkify’s New Gen 2 TR-200 RFID Reader/Writer
austriamicrosystems (SIX: AMS), a leading global designer and manufacturer of high-performance analog ICs, has announced that austriamicrosystems’ AS3992 UHF RFID reader IC is featured in Thinkify’s new Gen 2 TR-200 RFID reader/programmer. The TR-200 is easy-to-use and is designed specifically for office applications. It offers small size and a powerful software interface for simple and flexible operation, and can be powered by either a USB connection or an external supply. Visit austriamicrosystems at booth #324 at RFID Journal Live! in Orlando, USA, April 12 to 14.
The AS3992 UHF Gen 2 Reader chip is an integrated analog frontend and provides protocol handling for ISO18000-6b/c 900MHz RFID reader systems. Equipped with multiple built-in programming options, the device is suitable for a wide range of UHF RFID applications.
The TR-200 brings the full benefits of modern RFID to the individual with a simple and intuitive interface. Reading, programming, locking, and any standard or custom tag manipulation can be easily accomplished by RFID novices. With class leading sensitivity, yet less power consumption than conventional readers, the TR-200 is ideal for RFID applications at the desk top level. Individuals with no previous RFID experience can be running applications in five minutes with no expensive software license, awkward coax, power supplies, or mounting hardware.
Curt Carrender, one of the founders of Thinkify states, "We chose to use the AS3992 UHF RFID IC over competing RFID reader chips because it offered the best performance available in the market today. The Gen 2 protocol flexibility that the austriamicrosystems designers packed into this chip is simply astonishing. Utilizing this flexibility we are able to give our users all the benefits of modern UHF RFID at an extremely low price. Our unique receiver approach combined with the industry-leading sensitivity of the AS3992 chip enables great read range while still operating over a single USB port. The austriamicrosystems team was extremely helpful in all phases of our design work, helping us achieve a fast time to market, and rapid FCC type acceptance. We continue to be committed to working with austriamicrosystems for all of our personal reader products."
"Working with Industry pioneers such as Curt brings gratification to our efforts in UHF RFID,” said Bruce Ulrich, Wireless Product Line Director at austriamicrosystems. "While our Simply Gen 2 products are routinely used by newcomers due to their simplicity, industry experts such as the Thinkify team accentuate their performance capabilities and challenge us to continue to innovate. The TR-200 performance and efficiency are best in class and highlight the potential for both Thinkify and the industry.”
