Baxalta Inc. Q1 Income Climbs 18%

(RTTNews) - Baxalta Inc. (BXLT) released earnings for its first quarter that advanced compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line rose to $326 million, or $0.47 per share. This was higher than $276 million, or $0.40 per share, in last year's first quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.46 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 10.7% to $1.55 billion. This was up from $1.40 billion last year.
