Bemis Company Q4 Profit Up, But Sales Down

(RTTNews) - Bemis Company Inc.'s (BMS) profit for the fourth quarter increased to $56.2 million or $0.54 a share from $40.1 million or $0.38 a share in the year-ago quarter.

On an adjusted basis, the company said, earnings per share would have been $0.52. On average, 12 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings per share of $0.54 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items

However, net sales for the fourth quarter slid 1.2 percent to $1.2 billion, primarily reflecting the impact of currency. Analysts expected revenues of $1.22 billion for the quarter.

Looking ahead, the company said it expects adjusted earnings per share of $0.55-$0.60 for the first quarter and $2.40-$2.55 for the full year 2014. The Street view earnings per share of $0.56 for the next quarter and $2.45 for the year.
