Cache's Q4 Loss Narrows

(RTTNews) - Cache Inc. (CACH), a specialty chain of women's apparel stores, Tuesday reported a narrower loss in the fourth quarter, despite a decrease in net sales.

The company's net loss for the quarter narrowed to $4.8 million, or $0.23 per share, from $5.5 million, or $0.43 per share, in the fourth quarter of 2012. On an adjusted basis, loss was reported at $3.6 million, or $0.17 per share.

On an average, 3 analysts polled by Thomson-Reuters had expected the company to incur a loss of $0.08 per share during the quarter. Anlayst's estimate typically exclude one-time items.

Net sales for the quarter declined to $55.8 million from $60.8 million during the same period last year, while analysts expected revenues of $58.28 million. Comparable store sales decreased 5.9 percent in the quarter.

As advertising expenses were lowered, operating expenses slightly reduced to $25.0 million from $25.7 million during the year-ago period.
