CACI Honors Admiral Thomas H. Moorer
ARLINGTON, Va., March 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CACI International Inc announced today that CACI Chairman, President, and CEO Dr. J.P. (Jack) London has officially designated the boardroom at its international headquarters in Arlington, Va. as The Admiral Thomas H. Moorer Board Room. This unique honor acknowledges Admiral Moorer's distinguished service to his country and offers permanent recognition of the valued contributions he made as a member of the CACI Board of Directors from 1988 through 1993.
Admiral Moorer (1912-2004) had a long and distinguished career in the Navy, becoming the first officer to command the Atlantic and then the Pacific Fleets. He was on the ground at Pearl Harbor during the 1941 Japanese attack that marked America's entry into World War II, and served as a Naval pilot in the South Pacific. His plane was shot down off the coast of Australia in 1942, and his combat actions earned him the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, and Purple Heart for his service. In 1967, he was named Chief of Naval Operations, and in 1970, he was appointed Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and served there until his retirement in 1974.
With CACI's board, Admiral Moorer lent his guidance and keen insight into the critical role technology would play for the company's clients. Moorer's solid business expertise and vigilant counsel provided a firm foundation for CACI Chairman Dr. Jack London to transform CACI from a services provider into a sharply focused information technology organization capable of seeking broader opportunities in the rapidly changing IT markets.
This tribute and statement of enduring respect for Admiral Moorer also reflects CACI's dedicated support to the nation's armed forces and the war on terrorism. For the U.S. Navy, CACI works side-by-side with mission planning and intelligence specialists to help provide needed tools, intelligence, and communications. CACI serves the U.S. Marine Corps with logistics solutions that keep Marine pilots supplied and ready at all times, and supports mine countermeasure programs that ensure the safety of Marine landings. CACI supports U.S. Army initiatives such as the Strategic Services Sourcing (S3) contract and TROJAN satellite communications. And with the U.S. Air Force, CACI supports command and control functions around the world, as well as Air Force medical facilities in the U.S.
Paul Cofoni, President of U.S. Operations, said, "Naming our boardroom after Admiral Moorer is symbolic of more than just his outstanding contributions to CACI's success. It reinforces the steadfast obligation we all feel toward our warfighters and the government in our role as a trusted national asset for national missions."
According to Dr. J.P. (Jack) London, CACI Chairman, President, and CEO, "As a CACI board member, Admiral Thomas Moorer inspired all of us with his ethical values and commitment to excellence. As a great personal friend, Tom helped me develop a vision for CACI's future success and growth. We are proud to dedicate the CACI Board Room in Admiral Moorer's memory. As we look to the future, we will have a constant reminder of the rock-solid integrity and deep love of country that were as much a part of Tom Moorer as the Naval uniform he wore with so much honor."
