Cepheid Q3 Loss Widens

(RTTNews) - Cepheid (CPHD) Thursday reported third-quarter net loss of $7.2 million or $0.10 per share, compared to $1.4 million or $0.02 per share last year.

Adjusted net income for the third quarter was $4.7 million or $0.06 per share, compared to $6.6 million or $0.09 per share last year.

Revenues for the third quarter rose 15 percent to $115.2 million from $100.1 million last year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report a loss of $0.16 per share on revenues of $110.04 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

For the fiscal year 2014, the company expects loss of $0.54 to $0.52 per share, adjusted earnings of $0.11 to $0.13 per share and revenues of $461 million to $465 million.

Analysts currently expect a loss of $0.52 per share on revenues of $458.81 million for the year.

Earlier, the company expected loss of $0.54 to $0.51 per share, adjusted income of $0.10 to $0.13 per share and revenues of $452 million to $461 million.
