Ciena Corp. Profit Advances 20% In Q3

(RTTNews) - Ciena Corp. (CIEN) announced earnings for its third quarter that gained ground compared to the same period last year.

The company said its bottom line advanced to $81.03 million, or $0.51 per share. This was higher than $67.64 million, or $0.42 per share, in last year's third quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.49 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 8.7% to $728.72 million. This was up from $670.55 million last year.
