Compass Minerals Profit Tops Estimates; Reaffirms FY Guidance

(RTTNews) - Compass Minerals (CMP) on Monday reported second-quarter net earnings of $13.2 million or $0.39 per share compared with a loss $0.7 million or $0.02 per share last year.

The prior-year results included costs related to early debt redemption of about $6.9 million, pre-tax.; excluding this, earnings would have been $0.13 per share a year ago.

Revenues for the quarter were lower at $183.7 million compared with $186.6 million in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.30 per share on revenues of $179 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

For the full year 2045, the company still expects earnings of $5.10 to $5.60 per share, while analysts expect $5.32 per share.
