CSX Results Top Estimate - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - CSX Corp (CSX) Tuesday reported third-quarter net earnings of $509 million or $0.51 per share compared with $455 million or $0.45 per share last year.

Revenues for the quarter were up 8% at $3.22 billion compared with $2.99 billion in the prior year.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.48 per share on revenues of $3.15 billion for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Looking ahead, the company expects to sustain double-digit earnings growth and margin expansion in 2015, and continues to target a mid-60s operating ratio longer term.
