CyberOptics to Supply Inspection Cameras to DEK International

    Business Editors/Technology Writers

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 17, 2005--CyberOptics Corporation (Nasdaq:CYBE) and DEK International GmbH (Zurich, Switzerland) have entered into an agreement in which CyberOptics will provide inspection cameras for DEK's industry leading line of SMT screen printers.
The development includes a line of fiducial/inspection cameras for DEK's new Micron Series printers. These new cameras will allow DEK to dramatically increase the performance offerings for their customers. DEK is currently the #1 market share leader in screen printers for the SMT industry.
"This is an exciting step for CyberOptics, to not only build industry leading Electronics Assembly Sensors for Placement Machines but to extend these sensors to another location on the SMT line. Combining DEK's market leading position in screen printers, along with CyberOptics' leading position in 3D solder paste inspection, will provide additional value for DEK's customers." stated Kitty Iverson, CyberOptics' Chief Executive Officer. "This is also a key step forward in CyberOptics' long term vision to move our sensing technology and expertise inside the machines in the SMT assembly line."
"Partnering with nimble specialists in their fields is a fundamental aspect of DEK's flat and focused business model," said Richard Heimsch, President of DEK International. "CyberOptics' applied sensing technology is clearly the most stable and sophisticated and as such was a natural choice for us to help continuously add more functionality to our Mass Imaging platforms."
DEK will be demonstrating this fully integrated camera in its Europa machine in Anaheim, CA at IPC's annual APEX Trade Show later this month. The new systems with the enhanced inspection will be available for production shortly after the exhibition.
