UMS United Medical Systems International AG i. A.: Payment of an advance on the liquidation proceeds to the shareholders

Hamburg, May 27, 2016. The liquidator of UMS United Medical Systems International AG i. A. (UMS, ISIN DE 0005493654 / WKN 549365) (the "Company") has resolved today with the consent of the Supervisory Board of the Company to pay to the shareholders of the Company an advance on the liquidation proceeds. An amount of EUR 2.90 will be paid out on each non- par value bearer share of the Company. The payment will be effected in two tranches. The first tranche of EUR 2.00 will be paid out to the shareholders on June 8, 2016 and the second tranche of EUR 0,90 will be paid out after the expiry of the fixed-term deposit on August 2, 2016. The payment of both tranches will be effected by the depositary banks via Clearstream Banking AG.

A potential taxation of the payment on the level of the shareholders depends on, inter alia, the individual situation of the shareholders (e.g., if the shares of the Company are being held as private or business assets). The entire payment will be made from the tax contribution account (steuerliches Einlagenkonto) Hence, the payment should not be taxable for the shareholders save in exceptional cases. The concrete taxation situation of the shareholders depends, however, on the individual case. A definitive statement on a potential tax liability of the shareholders with respect to the payment can only be made by each shareholder's tax advisor.

The remaining net assets of the Company will amount to approx. EUR 2,9 million after the payment of the advance on the liquidation proceeds and are being retained mainly to cover unforeseeable costs until the end of the liquidation. Further payments on the liquidation proceeds will be reviewed by the liquidator on an ongoing basis and, where appropriate, resolved on by the liquidator with the supervisory board's consent.

UMS United Medical Systems International AG i.A. is a corporation listed in the Prime Standard segment of Deutsche Börse AG. The Company sold its interest in United Medical Systems (DE), Inc. and thus essentially all its assets on August 14, 2014. The shareholders agreed to this sale at the extraordinary shareholders meeting held on September 25, 2014. The agreement was consummated on November 11, 2014. Now that the assets have been sold, the purpose of the Company is to manage its own assets.

At the shareholders meeting held on April 27, 2015 the shareholders resolved to dissolve the Company as of April 30, 2015.
