DoorDash Faces Settlement After Spending Against Mamdani

(RTTNews) - DoorDash (DASH) is set to pay $131.5 million to settle allegations that it underpaid or failed to pay delivery workers in New York City, months after the company spent about $1.4 million during the 2025 mayoral election opposing Zohran Mamdani and supporting former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

The settlement includes more than $115 million in restitution for workers and over $16 million in civil penalties and administrative fines.

DoorDash was among the largest donors to Fix the City, a super PAC that spent about $31 million seeking to defeat Mamdani. The company also contributed $1.8 million to another super PAC that supported Cuomo. Mamdani had campaigned on stronger regulation of delivery apps and greater protections for delivery workers.

The settlement followed an investigation by New York City's Department of Consumer and Worker Protection, which said DoorDash had failed to pay some workers the required minimum rate or had not paid them at all.

DoorDash acknowledged the payment errors, saying some workers were underpaid or paid late, and agreed to provide monthly compliance reports to the city for three years.
