Dr. Magda Van Hoyweghen, MD is recognized by Continental Who's Who

BEVEREN, Belgium, Jan. 7, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Magda Van Hoyweghen, MD is recognized by Continental Who's Who as a Pinnacle Lifetime Member in the field of Medicine in recognition of her role as a Medical Mission Sister at the Government Hospitals in Africa, Holland, and Belgium.

Comprised of more than 500 Canonical members and 100 Associates, Medical Missions Sisters is a community of dedicated women who have devoted their lives to the wholeness and justice for all they encounter.

With over fifty years of experience in the medical profession, Dr. Magda Van Hoyweghen is revered for her remarkable contributions to the field of medicine. A venerated and well sought after professional, Dr. Hoyweghen began her career with Medical Mission Sisters where she started her medical training. From 1981 to 1993, Dr. Van Hoyweghen took on a more prominent role as senior surgeon position with a local government hospital in Malawi.  For the majority of the 1990s, Dr. Van Hoyweghen worked with the Medical Mission Sisters organization once again in Kenya before returning to Belgium.

One of Dr. Hoyweghen's personal motivations has been advocating for awareness and treatment of HIV/AIDS around the world. Dr. Van Hoyweghen has visited many countries, including South Africa, Ghana, Uganda, Congo, Swaziland, India, the Philippines and Peru.

Throughout the course of her education and training, Dr. Hoyweghen earned her Medical Doctor degree from Utrecht University in 1966. Upon completion, Dr. Hoyweghen became a surgical resident in New York City for several years and holds certification as a Diplomate from Onze-Lieve-Vrouw-Presentatie. 

To further enhance her professional development, since 1975 Dr. Hoyweghen is an esteemed member of several elite organizations including the American College of Surgeons, The College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa, the American College of Surgeons and a member of the John L. Madden Surgical Society, Inc.
