PHILADELPHIA, Dec. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Economy League of Greater Philadelphia today announced that its executive director, Steve Wray, will be resigning from his position at the Economy League in spring of 2017.

"On behalf of the board, we cannot thank Steve enough for his dedicated service and impact on Greater Philadelphia," said Economy League Board Chair Christina R. Chepel. "Under Steve's leadership, the Economy League has built upon its historic research strengths and been transformed into an agenda-driven organization. From the launch of the World Class agenda to his instrumental role in developing groundbreaking initiatives and organizations like IssuesPA, Campus Philly, and Graduate! Philadelphia, Steve's vision and passion have driven positive and lasting change in our region."

"I am both honored and grateful to have had the opportunity to contribute to the Economy League's regional improvement efforts over the past 22 years and serve as its executive director for the last ten," said Wray. "After a lot of thought, now is the right time for me to explore new opportunities where I can advance the great work that is happening in Greater Philadelphia from a new vantage point and role."

Economy League Managing Director for Regional Engagement Josh Sevin will take on an acting executive director role for the organization starting on March 22, 2017. Sevin will lead an organizational assessment and strategic planning effort to position the Economy League for new permanent leadership.

"I'm extremely proud of the work that we have done over the past two decades via partnerships, projects, and initiatives to truly make this a world class region," said Wray. "The Economy League plays a unique and vital role in our region and is well positioned to continue its leadership as a civic catalyst for Greater Philadelphia."

"The Economy League's board of directors is committed to expanding and accelerating our impact in the region and will work closely with Steve, Josh, and our exceptional staff to ensure a smooth transition for the organization," said Chepel, who is a partner at KPMG.
