Emergency Medical Services Announces AMR Preferred Provider Agreement with HCR Manor Care

Emergency Medical Services Corporation (NYSE: EMS) (the"Company") today announced that its American Medical Response, Inc.("AMR") subsidiary has entered into an agreement as a nationalpreferred provider for non-emergency medical transportation servicesand non-emergency medical transportation management services with twosubsidiaries of Manor Care, Inc. (NYSE: HCR), Manor Care HealthServices, Inc. and Health Care & Retirement Corporation of America(collectively, "Manor Care"). Manor Care is a leading provider ofshort-term post-acute and long-term care. The agreement has athree-year term with AMR scheduled to begin services August 1, 2006.

Under the agreement, AMR will provide services to 156 Manor Carenursing homes and assisted-living facilities in 18 states. Therelationship is expected to generate approximately $6 million in newannual net revenue and positive margins consistent with the Company'sother non-emergency transportation services.

EMSC Chairman and CEO William A. Sanger said: "We're very pleasedwith the expansion of our relationship with Manor Care. Thisthree-year agreement is another example of the Company implementingits strategy to leverage organic growth opportunities using thesignificant scale and scope of both our technology, including AMR'sproprietary Millennium managed transportation software, and our recordof quality service.

"Over time, we hope to expand the geographic scope of servicesfurnished to Manor Care facilities," Sanger concluded.

According to Greg Lawton, East Region Vice President of BusinessDevelopment at AMR: "Our proprietary Millennium managed transportationsoftware was designed with input from case managers and dischargeplanners, who need the ability to quickly and easily order medicallyappropriate ambulance transportation for their patients. Millennium'spowerful rules-based software helps assure that AMR provides itsclients the right level of care and transportation, at the right time,for each patient."
