Evercore Partners Announces the Acquisition of MJC Associates and Appoints Martin J. Cicco as Head of Real Estate Advisory Practice

Evercore Partners Inc. (NYSE: EVR) announced today the acquisition of MJC Associates, a commercial real estate advisory boutique, and the appointment of Martin J. Cicco as Senior Managing Director and Head of Evercore’s Real Estate Advisory practice. Mr. Cicco, who will be based in New York, founded MJC Associates in January 2007. Prior to MJC Associates, Mr. Cicco spent 29 years at Merrill Lynch & Co., ultimately serving as Vice Chairman of Global Commercial Real Estate and Global Head of Real Estate Investment Banking.

Over the course of his career, Mr. Cicco has been involved in a broad range of transactions throughout the real estate and hospitality sectors, including numerous IPO, capital markets and M&A assignments. Greg Brooks and Robert Klein also will be joining Evercore as a Managing Director and Vice President, respectively.

"The addition of Marty and his team broadens Evercore’s industry and sector coverage to commercial real estate where there is a substantial opportunity for M&A, restructuring and capital raising advice as the industry continues to recover. We are fortunate he will be joining Evercore to head our Real Estate business,” said Eduardo Mestre, Vice Chairman of Evercore Partners. "Marty and his team bring to Evercore a deep client base and a proven track record of success in delivering independent advice to real estate clients.”

"This acquisition is consistent with our philosophy of growing our Advisory business by acquiring very high quality specialty advisory boutiques, as well as by hiring leading senior bankers, with deep industry expertise,” said Ralph Schlosstein, Evercore’s President and Chief Executive Officer.

"I am truly excited to be joining Evercore and becoming part of such a great organization,” said Mr. Cicco. "My team is looking forward to leading Evercore’s expansion into commercial real estate, a sector with significant growth opportunities for the firm. I have always been extremely impressed with the accomplishments and unique culture of Evercore and look forward to expanding our business with such a talented group of people.”

Mr. Cicco, 54, is a graduate of Columbia University and has served on the advisory boards of the Columbia Business School’s Paul Milstein Center for Real Estate, the University of Wisconsin’s James A. Graaskamp Center for Real Estate and the Wharton School’s Samuel Zell and Robert Lurie Real Estate Center. In addition, he is an active member of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts and The Real Estate Roundtable.
