Filoli to Celebrate "Gala in the Garden" Inspired by Acclaimed Author Erin Gleeson's "The Forest Feast"

WOODSIDE, Calif., July 23, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Filoli Historic House and Garden, a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation and one of the last country estates reminiscent of the Gilded Age, is proud to announce the 2019 edition of its Annual Gala. "We are very excited about our upcoming gala. A unique setting, a scrumptious menu, and a great cause are the perfect elements to create a true forest feast to enjoy with friends. Cookbook author, Erin Gleeson has inspired the dinner and Suzanne Legallet will be the honorary host helping us highlight the Internship Program," said Kara Newport, Chief Executive Officer for Filoli.

2019 Gala in the Garden
Gala in the Garden invites the Bay Area to a forest-inspired feast set against the backdrop of the Santa Cruz mountains in celebration of beauty, nature, shared stories and historic preservation. This year, Erin Gleeson of The Forest Feast will help set a fresh and locally-sourced menu inspired by the Filoli Garden. The Gala features a live auction of fabulous, unique experiences and the opportunity to support Filoli's Internship Program through this year's Fund-a-Need.

The Filoli Internship Program
Since 1977, Filoli has trained 400 interns who have become leaders in the fields of horticulture, landscape preservation, landscape architecture, and public garden management. Just this summer, we hosted seven interns, including four garden interns and apprentices and three students from Santa Clara University who assisted our Collections, Education and Marketing staff with mission-critical activities like historic blueprint digitization, research for the Nature Center, and amplifying Filoli's voice and presence in the community.

With valuable support from the Hillsborough Garden Club, Woodside-Atherton Garden Club, Atherton Garden Guild and volunteers, our garden internships have become a world-class training ground for those beginning their careers in this field. Inspired by former interns' success and our new Strategic Plan, we have selected the Filoli Internship Program as the recipient of this year's Fund-a-Need.

Through the gifts from former interns and a generous matching contribution from longtime advocate Suzanne Legallet, proceeds from the Fund-a-Need will increase the impact of Filoli's world-class internships in the Bay Area and beyond.
