Foster Wheeler Names Chris Covert President and CEO of Houston-Based Subsidiary
Foster Wheeler AG (Nasdaq: FWLT) announced that Chris E. Covert, has been named President and Chief Executive Officer of the company’s Houston-based subsidiary, Foster Wheeler USA, effective immediately. Covert fills the position formerly held by Robert Flexon, who assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer of Foster Wheeler AG on June 1.
"Chris is a seasoned engineering and construction executive with more than 30 years of experience in major upstream and downstream process facilities,” said Umberto della Sala, President and Chief Operating Officer of Foster Wheeler AG. "With a background that encompasses construction, engineering, business development and management, he has all of the leadership qualities required to head Foster Wheeler USA.”
Covert joins Foster Wheeler from Fluor Corporation, where he had most recently been Senior Vice President and Project Director, based in Houston, a position he had held since 2006. He began his professional career in 1974 as a consulting civil engineer at Oblinger-Smith Corporation and as an instructor at Kansas State University. He joined Fluor in 1975 as a cost scheduling engineer based in Saudi Arabia. In subsequent years, he held positions of steadily increasing responsibility with Fluor, with assignments in Venezuela, Japan and the Netherlands, Canada and the United States.
Covert has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from Kansas State University. He also completed the Advanced Project Management program at Rice University. He is a registered professional engineer in California, Kansas and Missouri.
