Fred's January Comps Down 4.8% - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Fred's Inc. (FRED) reported that its total sales for the month of January 2017 decreased 5.6% year-over-year to $148.1 million from $156.9 million in January 2016. Comparable store sales for the month declined 4.8% versus an increase of 0.7% in the year-earlier period.

Total sales for the fourth quarter of 2016 decreased 4.3% year-over-year to $530.7 million from $554.6 million in the fourth quarter of 2015. On a comparable store basis, fourth quarter sales decreased 3.6% versus an increase of 1.7% in the year-earlier period.

Total sales for fiscal 2016 decreased 1.1% year-over-year to $2.126 billion from $2.151 billion in fiscal year 2015. On a comparable store basis, fiscal 2016 declined 2.2% versus an increase of 1.5% for the year-earlier period.
