Futures Suggests Wall Street To Bounce Back

(RTTNews) - Fed Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's remarks might be the major spotlight on Friday. The speech might give additional clues on potential interest rate cuts.

The geopolitical developments also are closely watched by investors.

As of 8.20 am ET, the Dow futures were up 148.00 points, the S&P 500 futures were adding 15.00 points and the Nasdaq 100 futures were progressing 45.00 points.

The U.S. major averages finished Thursday in negative territory. The S&P 500 slid 25.61 points or 0.4 percent to 6,370.17, the Nasdaq fell 75.55 points or 0.3 percent to 21,100.31 and the Dow declined 152.81 points or 0.3 percent to 44,785.50.

On the economic front, the Baker Hughes Rig Count for the week will be issued at 1.00 pm ET. In the prior week, the North America rig count was 722, while U.S. rig count was 539.

Fed Chairman Jerome Powell speaks on 'Economic Outlook and Framework Review' before the 2025 Jackson Hole Economic Policy Symposium at 10.00 am ET.

Boston Fed President Susan Collins will appear on Bloomberg TV at 9.00 am ET.

Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack will appear on CNBC's 'Money Movers' at 11.00 am ET.

Asian stocks turned in a mixed performance on Friday. China's Shanghai Composite index rallied 1.45 percent to 3,825.76.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng index climbed 0.93 percent to 25,339.14.

Japanese markets ended on a flat note. The Nikkei average finished marginally higher at 42,633.29 while the broader Topix index settled 0.58 percent higher at 3,100.87.

Australian markets declined. The benchmark S&P/ASX 200 dropped 0.57 percent to close at 8,967.40. The broader All Ordinaries index ended down 0.54 percent at 9,234.30.
