Today's students have access to digital devices 24/7 and spend the majority of their time online. This means that they can be exposed to risky situations any day of the year. Maintaining a safe and healthy school environment now requires creating a virtual safety net that covers students' devices, apps and online activities. On Wednesday, November 13, representatives from Gaggle, Google for Education and Leicester Public Schools will share insights about how district leaders can protect students on school-issued devices or apps.
Hosted by edWeb.net and moderated by edtech writer, editor and content marketer Annie Galvin Teich, the webinar will feature three presenters:
- Kendall Moore, a K-12 program manager for Google for Education;
- Dr. Matthew X. Joseph, the director of curriculum, instruction and assessment for Leicester Public Schools in Massachusetts; and
- Bill McCullough, Vice President of Sales for Gaggle, a leader in helping K-12 districts manage student safety on school-provided technology.
The three will share information on using Google for Education and Gaggle to create a digital safety net that gives educators peace of mind while monitoring for threats to students. Attendees will see examples of how Chromebooks, G Suite for Education apps and Gaggle can keep students secure in the context of privacy, data, digital monitoring and citizenship.

Over the course of 25 years, Dr. Joseph he has served as a public school and district leader in many capacities, including Director of Digital Learning and Innovation, elementary school principal, classroom teacher and district professional development specialist. He has shared his expertise on how to best support teaching and learning via nationally published articles and in speeches at multiple state and national events.
