Genesee & Wyoming Reports Net Profit In Q3 - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (GWR), Friday reported net profit in the the third-quarter, compared with loss last year, reflecting increase in revenues.

Net income for the three-month period was $66.2 million or $1.16 per share, compared with a net loss of $19.6 million or $0.47 per share last year.

Excluding certain items, adjusted net income was $1.19 per share for the quarter. Adjusted net income, excluding third-quarter short line tax credit was $1.07 per share.

On average, sixteen analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings per share of $1.22 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.

Operating revenues rose to $401.3 million, from prior year's $222.7 million. Analysts expected the company to generate revenues of $403.43 million for the quarter.
