Girls 4 Science To Recognize Local Students
CHICAGO, Aug. 6, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Over 100 Chicago area girls will be recognized for their work and participation in Girls 4 Science, a Chicago-area non-profit organization dedicated to exposing young girls to STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) careers. In addition, two participants will receive $1000 college scholarships.
The girls will be recognized Saturday, August 10th during a luncheon to be held at the Museum of Science & Industry, Chicago, IL. Addressing the girls will be Patricia Saldana Natke,President and Design Principal of UrbanWorks, an architecture, planning, and interior design firm in Chicago along with Brittany Smith, MissIllinois 2013 who is attending Purdue University earning a Bachelor of Science in Health & Kinesiology.
Girls 4 Science was founded in 2008 by a parent, Jackie Lomax, to recognize the accomplishments of women in STEM and to provide hands on enrichment programs for girls 10-18 years old. G4S accomplishes its mission by offering free six-week Saturday Science Academy courses at Chicago's city colleges (Olive Harvey & Malcolm X) along with St. Francis University in Joliet. To date more than 300 girls have participated in G4S programs.

"Their enthusiasm is rewarding and a wonderful example of the benefits of participating in the Girls 4 Science program."
