Google Gets More Time To Respond EU Antitrust Charges On Android

(RTTNews) - The European Union has granted Alphabet Inc.'s (GOOGL, GOOG) Google a third extension to respond to accusations that the company has abused its market dominance with its Android mobile operating system.

The European Commission is giving Google three additional weeks — until October 7 — to reply to the EU's charges issued against the technology giant in April.

The commission has accused Google of using its Android mobile-operating system to strong-arm phone makers and telecom companies into favoring Google's search engine and browser on their devices.

The EU had initially gave Google until July 27 to respond to the Android charges. The deadline was then extended to September 7, then again until September 20, following requests from Google. Now that date has been moved again—this time to October 7.
