Health Net Q2 Profit Climbs - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Health Net, Inc. (HNT) Wednesday reported second-quarter net income of $120.87 million or $1.49 per share, significantly higher than $33.48 million or $0.42 per share in the prior year.

On average, 14 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.56 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

Total revenues for the quarter climbed 24.9 percent to $3.42 billion from $2.74 billion a year ago. Analysts estimated revenues of $3.40 billion for the quarter.

For full year 2014, the company still expects GAAP earnings per share of at least $3.00. Total consolidated revenues are expected to be $14.0 billion. Analysts expect the company to earn $2.28 per share, on revenues of $14.09 billion for the year.
