Healthcare Industry Veteran Joins HMS as General Counsel

HMS, Inc. (NASDAQ: HMSY) today announced that Edith Marshall joined the company as Vice President and General Counsel.

Ms. Marshall comes to HMS with extensive experience in Medicare, Medicaid, and other areas in healthcare, including reimbursement, and fraud and abuse.

"Edith's understanding of our business, coupled with her impressive legal background, makes her a great fit for the Company,” said Bill Lucia, CEO of HMS. Prior to HMS, Edith was Counsel in the FDA and Healthcare practice group of Arnold & Porter, LLP. She has served as the Director of Legal and Regulatory Affairs for a health policy trade group and worked in private practice at a law firm specializing in healthcare. She has extensive government experience, including as a staff attorney at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS); as a litigator at the Department of Justice (DOJ); and as an Assistant US Attorney for the District of Columbia and supervisor of the US Attorney's Office Civil Division. Edith began her career as an attorney in the Office of the General Counsel of the Department of Health and Human Services, where she focused on Medicare and Medicaid issues.

Ms. Marshall is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School with an undergraduate degree from Harvard University.
