Implant Sciences Sells TSA-Approved Explosives Trace Detectors to R&M Trucking

WILMINGTON, Mass., Sept. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Implant Sciences Corporation (OTCQB:IMSC), a high technology supplier of systems and sensors for homeland security and defense markets, announced today that it has sold its TSA-approved QS-B220 desktop explosives trace detector to Illinois-based R&M Trucking. The systems were purchased to replace TSA grandfathered systems, which are currently approved to screen cargo, but have a stated expiration date of January 1, 2014. R&M is a full service trucking company that is also a Certified Cargo Screening Facility (CCSF). Transportation and logistics companies with CCSF status are certified by the TSA to screen air cargo packages for explosives before they are loaded onto airplanes, and are required to use TSA-approved screening systems.

"R&M Trucking appreciated the QS-B220's easy-to-use and easy-to-maintain design which delivers a low total cost of ownership over the lifecycle of the system," stated Implant Sciences' Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Dr. Darryl Jones. "A growing number of CCSFs are choosing our QS-B220 for expanding capacity with new ETD systems, as well as for replacing systems that are scheduled to lose their grandfathered TSA-approval status. In January 2014, several older systems from competing manufacturers currently allowed under a grandfathered status will no longer be in compliance with TSA requirements. The QS-B220 offers freight forwarders, airlines, trucking and logistics companies an innovative alternative that is truly the new standard in explosives trace detection."
