Instagram Fighting Against Online Bullies

(RTTNews) - Instagram has rolled out a comment filter to all Instagram users, as the company aims to protect its users from online abuse.

The new keyword moderation tool will allow users to list words that they consider offensive or inappropriate. Comments with these words will be hidden from users posts. Instagram users can choose their own list of words or use default words provided by the company.

From now on Instagram will also allow users to delete comments, report inappropriate comments and block accounts.

"..Sometimes the comments on their posts can be unkind. To empower each individual, we need to promote a culture where everyone feels safe to be themselves without criticism or harassment. It's not only my personal wish to do this, I believe it's also our responsibility as a company," said Kevin Systrom, CEO & Co-founder, Instagram.

Systrom said the company expects the new tools will keep "Instagram a positive and creative place for everyone."
