International Summit to Celebrate Education on Global Scale

POMPANO BEACH, Fla., Jan. 19, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Pompano Beach High School will welcome more than 150 guest administrators, teachers, and students from thirteen countries to a week-long international summit titled "Worldwide Collaboration: Connected Learning on a Global Scale."

More than 1,000 educators, students, and community members are expected to attend the summit's opening ceremony, which will take place from 9-11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 28. The opening ceremony will feature a keynote address by General Manager of Mixed Reality Education at Microsoft, Dan Ayoub. Ayoub works to bring the power of mixed reality, augmented reality, and virtual reality to educators, students, and learners around the world and will share how Microsoft is using this groundbreaking technology to improve learning outcomes for students of all ages.

This event is planned to coincide with the history-making celebration of National School Choice Week 2019, which will feature more than 40,000 school choice events across all 50 states.

"The summit will develop cultural awareness in the field of education, increase knowledge about the United States and visiting schools, and establish lasting ties between all participants," said Jeffery Williams, magnet coordinator at Pompano Beach High School. "Opportunities will include teaching and learning in cooperation with Pompano Beach High School educators, meeting with university professors and administrators, and sharing cultural practices within the community."

Pompano Beach High School is an A-rated, all-magnet high school ranked in the top 1% of schools in the nation. The school's focus is international affairs with Information Technology, which will be represented at the summit by its international guests and keynote speaker. 

As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country.
