Interton Selects AMI Semiconductor for Development of Advanced Wireless Capabilities in Digital Hearing Aids; Ultra-Low Power Technology Positions AMIS as Wireless Audiology Solutions Expert
Adding wireless technology to modern hearing devices is a complexchallenge given the battery life expectations of users. This addedcomplexity escalates the requirement for the signal processing andwireless communication hardware within the hearing aid to be tightlyintegrated so that it can operate with extremely low power consumptionand high fidelity.
Christian Gormsen, Managing Director of Interton commented on theselection of AMIS as their semiconductor partner by stating, "AMIS hasclearly demonstrated expertise in ultra-low power wireless technologyfor implanted medical devices, and we are quite familiar with theiradvanced digital signal processing technology for hearing aids. The RF and signal processing subsystems will be packaged in ahybrid assembly supplied by medical microelectronics supplier,IntriCon Corporation (Resistance Technology Inc.). IntriCon will alsooffer a version of the RF technology to hearing aid manufacturers whorequire "ready-to-go" solutions.
