SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 7, 2005--Jack in the Box(R) restaurants has a long history of menu innovation and industry firsts. It was the first major fast-food burger chain to offer a portable salad ... the first to serve a breakfast sandwich ... and the first to build a burger with sourdough bread. Today, Jack in the Box pushes the fast-food envelope again with a new line of premium chicken sandwiches featuring ciabatta -- a delicious Italian-style bread with a soft, porous center and a crispy crust.
Following in the footsteps of its successful line of Pannido(TM) deli-style sandwiches, which feature foot-long ciabatta baguettes, Jack in the Box has created two very different, but equally tasty, chicken ciabatta sandwiches:

-- Bruschetta Chicken Ciabatta -- featuring a grilled chicken breast on a lightly toasted ciabatta bun with real provolone cheese, green leaf lettuce, mayo-onion sauce and diced tomatoes marinated in basil, garlic, olive oil, vinegar and Parmesan cheese

-- Classic Chicken Ciabatta -- featuring a grilled chicken breast on a lightly toasted ciabatta bun with reduced-fat herb mayo, sliced tomatoes, green leaf lettuce and red onion slices

"Consumers are looking for more sophisticated foods with unique tastes and textures," said Teka O'Rourke, senior marketing manager for Jack in the Box Inc. "With high-quality ingredients like ciabatta bread and the bruschetta tomato topping, our new sandwiches provide the upscale ingredients our guests crave along with an affordable price and the convenience of a drive-thru."
Jack's new Bruschetta Chicken and Classic Chicken ciabatta sandwiches are available now for a suggested price of $4.29 and $3.99, respectively, excluding tax, at all participating Jack in the Box restaurants.
Jack in the Box Inc. (NYSE:JBX) operates and franchises two restaurant chains, Jack in the Box(R) and Qdoba Mexican Grill(R), in 33 states combined. Jack in the Box is one of the nation's largest hamburger chains, with more than 2,000 restaurants, and Qdoba Mexican Grill is an emerging leader in fast-casual dining, with approximately 180 restaurants. Based in San Diego, Jack in the Box Inc. has about 45,000 employees. For more information, visit www.jackinthebox.com.
