JB Hunt Transport Posts Lower Q1 Profit - Quick Facts
(RTTNews) - Surface transportation company JB Hunt Transport Services, Inc.'s (JBHT) first-quarter 2014 net earnings slid to $68.7 million, or $0.58 per share, from $73.3 million, or $0.61 per share, last year. On average, 27 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings per share of $0.62 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.
On the other hand, quarterly total operating revenue reached $1.41 billion, an increase, compared with the prior year's $1.29 billion. Analysts estimated revenues of $1.40 billion for the quarter. According to the company, rail service disruptions and a series of winter storms in the Midwest and Northeast adversely affected load growth in Intermodal (JBI).
Operating income for the current quarter totaled $117 million, down 6%, versus $125 million for the first quarter 2013.
