Joseph Papa Assumes Role Of Chairman And CEO Of Valeant Pharma - Quick Facts

(RTTNews) - Canadian drugmaker Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc. (VRX, VRX.TO) said that Joseph Papa has assumed the role of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. As previously announced, he succeeds Michael Pearson.

On April 25, 2016, Valeant announced that Papa would become Chairman and CEO. Papa, aged 60, has more than 35 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, healthcare services and specialty pharmaceutical industries, including 20 years of branded prescription drug experience.

He joins Valeant from Perrigo Company plc (PRGO), where he served as CEO since 2006 and was appointed as chairman of the Board of Directors in 2007.
