Kansas Ride for the Red to Benefit American Red Cross Chapter

TOPEKA, Kan., Aug. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The Kansas Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross will once again be holding their annual Kansas Ride for the Red event in Topeka. Along with Briggs Auto, this year's presenting sponsor, the Chapter is hoping to get as many people involved as they can. This is the only organized participant fundraising event for the Chapter, which provides service to 16 counties in Kansas.

The Ride for the Red will take place next Saturday, September 7^th at Heartland Park. Participants will begin the ride on the 2.5 mile Grand Prix Road Course located at the park. The ride will continue with a BBQ picnic in Harveyville where participants will hear stories from victims of the tornado that struck Lake Wabaunsee in February of last year. The ride will come to fruition back at Heartland Park where a post-ride party will take place. Ride badges from the event will provide participants with entry to the Heartland Park races that day.

Registration and a pancake breakfast will begin at 7:30 am. The ride will take place at 9 am and end around 1:30 pm, when participants will return to Heartland Park. Participants who don't want to wait to register on the day of the ride have the option to register early online. Organizers suggest registering early to ensure a t-shirt will be available. Participants looking to donate more to the mission can register to be a Winged Warrior, a position which comes with added incentives. Plenty of volunteer positions are open for those without a motorcycle. However, if that doesn't sound thrilling enough, Briggs Auto currently has used motorcycles in stock.
