KCS Names James E. Fisk Vice President & Chief Mechanical Officer

Kansas City Southern (KCS) (NYSE: KSU) and its U.S. subsidiary, The Kansas City Southern Railway Company (KCSR), announced today that James E. Fisk has been named vice president and chief mechanical officer. Mr. Fisk will report to KCSR executive vice president and chief operating officer Scott Arvidson.

"We are pleased that Jim is returning to KCS,” said Mr. Arvidson. "His locomotive expertise and operations management skills will be focused on implementing repeatable, measurable practices for maintaining our international locomotive fleet and equipment, ensuring the highest quality and best total cost of ownership.”

Mr. Fisk returns to KCS after serving as vice president continuous improvement for Electro-Motive Diesel, Inc. since 2005. Prior to that, he was vice president and chief mechanical officer for KCS for two years, returning to Chicago, Ill. for personal reasons. He has also served as president and chief operating officer for National Railway Equipment Company and executive vice president for Wisconsin Central, where he had responsibilities in the U.S., Europe and Australia. Mr. Fisk is a fourth generation railroader and has worked in the rail industry for more than 30 years.

Headquartered in Kansas City, Mo., KCS is a transportation holding company that has railroad investments in the U.S., Mexico and Panama. Its primary U.S. holding is KCSR, serving the central and south central U.S. Its international holdings include Kansas City Southern de Mexico, S.A. de C.V. serving northeastern and central Mexico and the port cities of Lázaro Cárdenas, Tampico and Veracruz, and a 50 percent interest in Panama Canal Railway Company, providing ocean-to-ocean freight and passenger service along the Panama Canal. KCS' North American rail holdings and strategic alliances are primary components of a NAFTA Railway system, linking the commercial and industrial centers of the U.S., Mexico and Canada.
