KLAS Ranks Dell Services Healthcare First for Extended Business Office Services
Dell Services has been ranked No.1 for Extended Business Office (EBO) services in the "Revenue Cycle Services: From the Extended Business Office to Transformational Services” report by KLAS,* a research firm that independently measures and reports the performance of healthcare vendors. The report specifically cites "Perot Systems,” which was acquired by Dell late last year.
The KLAS report’s EBO rankings evaluate organizations on a variety of categories that contribute to the success of an EBO engagement. The report specifically lauded Dell Services for the expertise of onsite representatives, the level of partnership between Dell Services and its customers, the presence of on-site managers, and the broad portfolio of services Dell Services can provide to larger healthcare organizations. The report also discussed the range of engagements Dell Perot Systems can accommodate. While many ranked by the survey were limited to either large or small hospitals, Dell Perot Systems provides EBO services to a variety of hospitals and other healthcare providers, regardless of size.
The research, which was conducted through surveys of C-level executives and business office leaders in hospitals throughout the US, found that the market for revenue cycle services continues to grow in the midst of increased market focus on issues such as Meaningful Use and clinical system purchase and implementation. Though not specifically cited in the report, Dell Services helps hospitals achieve lower operating costs by streamlining and optimizing workflow. More than one survey respondent reported that Dell Services has helped their organizations save thousands of dollars a day. Though the report didn’t list overall figures, in total the company has recovered more than $7.1 billion for its customers and resolved more than $22 billion in A/R.
Utilizing a team of highly-experienced resources, Dell Services focuses EBO solutions on all areas of the billing and collection cycle to generate cash for its clients from difficult-to-collect accounts, including all third-party payers. With a mix of onsite and offsite resources, the company securely connects a client’s facility with its network of service centers for an efficient exchange of patient accounting data. Dell Services works with healthcare providers of various sizes, providing both short-term and long-term revenue cycle solutions, resulting in the cash and results providers need to maintain a strong fiscal position.
Dell Services continues to invest in new technology and applies proven best practices in its EBO operations to further shorten the payment cycle and accelerate receivables collections for its clients. For instance, the company has deployed software that helps identify patients with the greatest probability to pay. The Dell EBO team begins working with those patients first as part of its self-pay process. Customers like The Christ Hospital (TCH) in Cincinnati have experienced accelerated cash flow and increased recovery by leveraging these tools and processes.
Dell’s relationship with TCH, a 555-bed not-for-profit acute care facility, first began in 2007 when the hospital needed to move AR from a legacy system to an RCS collection system. As a result of this relationship, AR days have decreased, cash flow has increased.
