Lauren Henry Cowles joins McDonald Hopkins Government Strategies as Legislative Director

CLEVELAND, July 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Lauren Henry Cowles has joined McDonald Hopkins Government Strategies (MHGS), a Washington-based subsidiary of McDonald Hopkins LLC, a business advisory and advocacy law firm. McDonald Hopkins Government Strategies, which provides strategic counsel at the federal government level, is led by former Congressman Steven LaTourette.

In her position as Legislative Director, Cowles advances client priorities by developing and implementing strategies to address federal needs before Members of Congress and Federal Agencies, coordinating efforts to address policy concerns with relevant stakeholder and interest groups, and providing analysis of legislation pending before Congress.

Cowles comes to MHGS after more than eight years in the United States Senate, most recently in the Office of Senator Mark Pryor (D-AR), a senior member of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, the Appropriations Committee and the Commerce Committee. As his Appropriations Legislative Assistant, Lauren managed the statewide appropriations portfolio, budget issues, and special projects for Senator Pryor. Prior to that, Lauren served as a Professional Staff Member for the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee where she was responsible for issues including disaster preparedness and response, immigration reform and national security.

Cowles holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Educational Studies from Emory University.
