Leading Politicians Support Hispanic Business Conference
NORTH BETHESDA, Md., July 24, 2013 /PRNewswire-HISPANIC PR WIRE/-- Organizers of the 12th Annual Maryland Hispanic Business Conference announced today that several of the areas most prominent politicians have come out in support of the conference, taking place on September 3, 2013 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center. U.S. Senator Ben Cardin, Congressman Chris Van Hollen and Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett, all serving as keynote speakers, will join top Hispanic business leaders, entrepreneurs and executives at this years event, where they will continue to highlight the significant role of the Hispanic small business community.
"The strength and success of our nations small businesses are vital to our economic recovery," said Congressman Van Hollen. "We must do everything we can to put Americans back to work and boost economic growth and part of that effort must be comprehensive immigration reform that will allow millions of individuals to emerge from the shadows and join the mainstream economy. Hispanic entrepreneurs in Maryland and across the country are playing a critical role as we move our economy forward, and immigration reform will strengthen our nation."
Echoing the Congressmans viewpoint is U.S. Senator Ben Cardin, a member of the Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee, who took to the floor of the Senate last month in strong support of the immigration bill. "Small businesses are the driving force behind job creation in America, but they need our support to drive our economic recovery and we need a balanced immigration system that is fair. Fixing our broken immigration system is in the best interests of our country and the needs of our economy."
"We are honored and humbled by the show of support for both the conference and the Hispanic business community by some of our most powerful and influential political leaders," stated Bill Villanueva, a Maryland Hispanic Veteran of the US Armed Forces, entrepreneur and founder of the Maryland Hispanic Business Conference. "This year, more than ever, with the immigration debate looming and reform so close to becoming a reality, it is so important to commend the voices of support and solidarity within our local and national government."
Sponsored for the last two years by the Montgomery County Department of Economic Development, the Conference will also feature another well-known advocate, County Executive Isiah Leggett. "The Hispanic business community has made and continues to make enormous contributions to making a good Montgomery County even better," said Leggett. "I look forward to seeing everyone at the 12th Annual Maryland Hispanic Business Conference of which Montgomery County, is, once again, a proud sponsor."
