Luminator Partners With Jamco to Supply Lighting and Passenger Control Units (PCUs) for Singapore Airlines' US$150M Next Generation Cabin Products
PLANO, Texas, Aug. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Luminator, a LTG Company, is pleased to announce that we have partnered with Jamco Corporation to develop a new range of seat lighting products for Singapore Airlines' next generation cabin products. Luminator Aerospace will supply the seat number lights in First and Business Class, PCUs, reading lights and various strip accent lights for the aircraft cabin. Jamco will integrate the lights and PCUs into Singapore's new First Class and Business Class Seats.
"Luminator is delighted to have been a part of this significant milestone. This was a very stringent and rigorous design process for a premier airline customer. The success was due to the tremendous cooperation and innovation among the various partners: Jamco Corporation, James Park Associates, BMW Group DesignworksUSA, and the operator, Singapore Airlines." - Riko Yap, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, Luminator.
The new PCU enhances the customer service experience with its integrated "Do Not Disturb" function that changes the color of the seat number light, allowing cabin crew to know at a glance if the passenger doesn't wish to be disturbed. In addition, passengers can control the brightness of the reading lights to suit the various seating positions, be it reading, dining, sleeping, take-off or landing.
The stylish new reading light is conveniently positioned to make it as inconspicuous as possible. Extensive research was conducted to ensure flexibility to meet various passenger requirements and that the light settings are favorable for reading, working or enjoying the new in-flight entertainment system.
Luminator has also designed various strip accent lights to illuminate the personal areas of each seat including the vanity mirror, shelves, armrest compartments, footrest, ottoman stowage area, literature pocket and more. The ambient lighting serves as a night light when the cabin is dimmed and highlights the warm colors of the state-of-the-art seat design.
"One of the key design philosophies underpinning our next generation of cabin products is the importance of integrating customer service into the seat design. Singapore Airlines is pleased to work with Luminator who understood this and not only helped to build in convenient features in the Passenger Control Unit, but also helped us conduct an extensive study on the optimal light color and intensity of the seat and ambient lights - all aimed at our customers' comfort in mind." - Mr. Chew Tai Lu, Singapore Airlines Vice President Product Innovation.
