Mackenzie Investments Sponsors Olympic & World Cup Athlete Georgia Simmerling
TORONTO, Sept. 28, 2017 /CNW/ - Mackenzie Financial Corporation (Mackenzie Investments) is proud to announce it is now an official supporter of World Cup and Olympic Ski Cross athlete Georgia Simmerling.
"Mackenzie Investments is pleased to support such a confident, hard-working athlete as Georgia Simmerling. As a three-time, multi-sport Olympian, Georgia's resilience and motivation are an inspiration to all Canadians," said Barry McInerney, President and Chief Executive Officer of Mackenzie Investments. "To be the only Canadian Olympian who has competed in three different sports is a phenomenal achievement and we are excited to support Georgia as she makes her run to the 2018 Olympics in Ski Cross."
After a successful career as an Alpine Skier, Georgia switched to the Canadian National Ski Cross Team in 2010. When an injury cut her 2014/2015 ski season short, she moved to cycling, quickly becoming one of the best track cyclists in the world as a member of the Canadian Track Cycling National Team. At the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio, Georgia helped her team win a bronze medal in the team cycling event.
When Georgia races for the podium in Ski Cross this season, she will proudly display the Mackenzie Investments logo on her helmet.
"As a snow sport athlete I'm used to seeing teammates wearing the Mackenzie logo. Now I am incredibly proud to represent Mackenzie not only as a team sponsor but personally as my headgear sponsor," said Georgia Simmerling. "Mackenzie has been a generous supporter of snow sports, in particular at the grassroots level. Investing in grassroots programs gives youngsters the opportunity to excel and potentially achieve their dreams of becoming Olympic athletes. I speak on behalf of all snow sports athletes in saying Mackenzie's support allows us to focus on our job of chasing medals for Canada."
